Louise Dickey Flurry

Louise Dickey Flurry, 89, of West Orange, passed away on November 13, 2019, at home.

Funeral services will be Saturday, November 16, 2:00 p.m., at Calvary Baptist Church, 2402 Western Avenue, West Orange. Officiating will be Pastor David Millner. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Garden, in Orange.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, at Calvary Baptist Church in West Orange.

Born in West Orange, Texas on July 15, 1930, she was the daughter of Rufus N. Dickey and Minnie Ella (Moses) Dickey. Louise was a 1947 graduate of Stark High School. She was one of the first female officers at First City Bank of Orange and went on to become an Executive Vice President. Louise was a faithful charter member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was known for her standing invitations for Sunday dinners. She enjoyed spending time with her beloved granddaughters who were all her “favorites”, playing cards, cooking, and most of all, sharing coffee and sweet tea with her many visitors. Louise also loved making slushies for the neighborhood children. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Charles M. Flurry; brothers, C.A. Dickey, Sr., Ollis Dickey; sisters, Dora Lincecum, Alta Taylor, Minnie Ella Banaszak.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Mike Flurry of Lake Jackson, Vicki Greenwell and husband Larry of Silsbee, Rufus Flurry and wife Becky of West Orange, Sandy K. Amy and husband Pete of West Orange, and daughter in law, Phyllis Flurry of Akron, Ohio; grandchildren, Brittany Flurry, Kelsey Flurry, Kristin Flurry, Karli Flurry Horne and husband Jimmy, Emily Amy Bautista and husband Joel, and Felicia Amy; great granddaughter, Catherine Mae Bautista; brother Marshall Dickey and wife Becky of Houston.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Shugart, Dennis Baggett, Billy Frederick, Jimmy Horne, Joel Bautista, and James Luckie. Honorary pallbearers are John Stephenson, J.B. James, Clifton Mitchell, and Roy McDaniel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Calvary Baptist Church at PO Box 2856 Orange, Texas 77631-2856.
