Loretta Ruth Watson

July 29, 1924 — December 29, 2017

Loretta Ruth Watson of Beaumont, Texas, went home to Jesus, her Lord and Savior, on December 29, 2017. She was 93 years old. Loretta was born in Port Neches, Texas to Ellis and Mirtie Jones. She was the youngest of the 6 children in the family. She grew up in Port Neches and Doucette, Texas, and graduated from Woodville High School.

Loretta met and married J.F. (Jack) Watson in 1942. Jack went to be with the Lord in January of 1983. Her daughter, Michelle Lee (Mickey) Sutton, married to Grant Sutton, preceded her in death on December 17, 2014.

Loretta is survived by her son, Richard Watson and wife, Susan; and granddaughters Kim Browne and husband, Trey; Kari Anne Sutton; Ashleigh, Heather, and Kendall Watson; Jennifer (Watson) Heasley and husband, Charles; and great granddaughters Paige Elizabeth Browne and Anna Kate Browne; and nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law T.J. Sasser. She was pre-deceased by her parents and siblings, Vana Jones, Lois Taylor, Althea Holt, Martha Lou Williams, and Edna Sasser.

Loretta was a wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker who was involved with her children’s school activities while also devoting much time serving her church with her husband, First Baptist Church of Beaumont. After Jack’s death, she continued to serve at church and volunteered at the gift shop in Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, and traveled extensively. We will miss her greatly.

Mrs. Watson’s family would like to thank her caregivers; Beth, Ann, Dorie, Bobet, Sarah, and Wanda for the special care and love they gave to her over the years. We also thank Kindred Hospice and Calder Woods for her care and providing comfort in her final days.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, January 1, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Beaumont with Reverend Larry Walker officiating.
