Linda Wood Sims

On Saturday, November 13, 2021, Linda Wood Sims, loving wife, and mother, passed away at her home in Orange, Texas, at the age of 77.

Linda was born on June 7, 1944, in Kilgore, Texas. She was the daughter of H.P. and Nell Wood. Linda received her master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin University. After graduating, she taught school and later managed The Child Care Department of the Medical Center. In 1978, she began her career with Merrill Lynch of Beaumont as a Financial Advisor. During her career Linda was featured in a national advertising campaign for the firm, and later served on the Advisory Council to Management. After 29 successful years she retired as a First Vice President. Linda was very proud of the close personal relationships she had with her clients. Her passion was her family. She left a lasting impact on many people’s lives and was known for her caring and compassionate spirit. Linda was a wonderfully kind and generous person and dedicated her heart and soul in all she did.

She was preceded in death by her parents, H.P. and Nell Wood; brother, Pat; and sister, Bettye Dorris.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Lewis Sims; daughter, Felicia Nell Herring; grandchildren, Will Herring and Monica Herring; sister, Norma Mayfield. Linda was also admired and loved by Lewis’ children, Jennifer Sims and Clay Sims, who cherished their time together.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to First United Methodist Church of Orange.

A private family service will be held in Kilgore, Texas at a later date.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home.
