Jonette Sue Brown, 76, of Orange, passed away on September 30, in Beaumont.

Visitation will be at Monday, October 4, at 1:00 p.m., at McDonald Memorial Baptist Church.

Memorial services will be 2:00 p. m., Monday, October 4, at McDonald Memorial Baptist Church in West Orange. Officiating will be Pastor Tommy Anthony, of McDonald Memorial Baptist Church.


Born in Arkansas City, Kansas, on May 2, 1945, she was the daughter of John Mathis Baker and Alta Baker-Williams. Jonette had a heart of gold that she loved to share with anyone or any animal she came into contact with. She enjoyed creating cards for birthdays or other special events, drawing, and painting in her spare time. She was a devoted member of the McDonald Memorial Baptist Church and loved her community. Jonette loved spending time with her wonderful husband Hal Brown, her family, and friends. She will be dearly missed by those that knew her.

Jonette is preceded in death by her parents, John Mathis Baker and Alta Baker-Williams; former husband, Joe Duhon; and infant, Robert Glen Ethington.

She is survived by her spouse, Hal Monroe Brown; children, Rebecca Sergeant of Evadale, Patrick Ethington and Shari Driver of San Diego, California; grandchildren, Jonathan Martin, Heather Buckley, Allyson Sergeant, Sophie Sergeant, and Halie Ethington; great-grandchildren, Brandon Martin, MacKenneth Martin, Gabriel Martin, Graycee Buckley, Faythe Buckley, Logan Buckley, and Gunner Buckley.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to, the Alzheimer’s Walk in Beaumont, happening October 16th.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home.
