Born in Orange, Texas on May 27, 1939, he was the son of Paul Carpenter and Eula Authement Carpenter. He was married to the love of his life and soul mate for 52 wonderful years. John attended Lamar University in Beaumont, propelling him into his lifelong career as a Professional Engineer licensed in Texas and Louisiana. He worked as a Chemical Engineer for Firestone/Bridgestone for 45 years and received the CEO Award for Outstanding Performance. John was an intelligent and passionate man who spoke Cajun French fluently and was a member of Mensa. He continually kept busy with hay, horses, cattle and growing Christmas trees for Carpenter Christmas Tree Farm. John was a lifetime devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and for the later ten years of his life attended Cowboy Church of Orange County. Above all his many ventures throughout life, his favorite was the family he was able to raise and see grow. He was an enduring family man, who loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchild more than life itself. Through the bond and values that he instilled in his close-knit family, came the strong and resilient family that will be proud to carry on his legacy of love, laughter, and enlightenment.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul & Eula Carpenter.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Carpenter; daughters, Suzie Erickson of Cypress, and Jenny Frisbee of Orange; sons, Kevin Carpenter of Orange, and Jason Carpenter of Deweyville; grandchildren, Ben Carpenter, Trent Carpenter, Hunter Langley, Will Carpenter, Maddie Carpenter, Brandon Frisbee, Maysie Carpenter, Emma Frisbee, Jaxen Carpenter, Weston Carpenter, and Savannah Erickson; and great-grandson, Xander Carpenter.
