Born in Orange, Texas, on January 14, 1937, she was the daughter of Woodrow B. Henry and Lillian Ruth (Arnaud) Henry. JoAnn worked as a secretary to the County Judge and the Commissioners Court, and also worked in various positions at the courthouse for over 25 years. She was a faithful member of North Orange Baptist Church and had a very ministering spirit. JoAnn was blessed to have two great, long marriages with wonderful men who walked beside her in life. She was a talented singer, seamstress and enjoyed cooking. She was known for her butterscotch pie and pineapple cake. JoAnn was a very active grandmother who always made an effort to be at all of her grandchildren’s events. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

JoAnn was the epitome of the sweetest woman. Finding the words to describe this sassy lady and how she influenced, prayed over, laughed with, encouraged, sang with and loved her family can’t be found. It didn’t matter what adventure her loved ones wanted to be a part of, she would be right in the middle and she probably bought the t-shirt to cheer them on. She was always such a crafty lady. If anyone needed something made, you better believe she was trying to figure out how to make it. From sewing college bedding for her grandchildren to teaching them to sew their own t-shirt blankets, she was determined to make sure they had everything they ever needed and she found a way to craft it. She could stretch a dollar further than anyone you’ve ever met. She has kept at least 40 years of planners which read like diaries from family events. Her family and loved ones will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of 30 years, James “Jimmy” Singletary; her daughter, Stephanie Cole; her sister, Shirley Smith; and her brother, Benny Henry.

She is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Buddy Erwin; her daughters, Liz Morris and husband Carlo of Orange and Janet Manley and husband Robert of Orange; her son-in-law, Danny Cole of Bridge City; her grandchildren, Tiffanie Baltazar and husband Joe, Dusty Cole and wife Tonya, Ryan Morris, Lindsey Riley and husband Chase, Paul Manley and wife Lindsey, and Matt Manley and wife Lindsey; her great-grandchildren, Bryce Rambo, Falcon Cole, Carley Riley, Camden Riley, Kent Manley, and one on the way; her step-children, Larry Erwin and wife Charlene of Baytown, James Erwin of Friendswood, Jody Wright and husband Glenn of LaPorte, Linda Erwin of Evadale, Guy Erwin and wife Stacy of Silsbee, Rena Pruitt of Call, and Brenda Morrell of Silsbee; along with her 12 step-grandchildren and numerous step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dusty Cole, Ryan Morris, Paul Manley, Matt Manley, Bryce Rambo, Joe Baltazar, and Chase Riley.
