Jan William Bromley, 76, of Orange, Texas, passed away on July 27, 2019, at his home surrounded by loved ones.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 2, 2019, at St. Paul Episcopal Church in Orange.

Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Jackson, Pennsylvania, on December 2, 1942, he was the son of Robert L. Bromley and Martha E. Bromley. Jan was an active and dedicated member of St. Paul Episcopal Church in Orange and dearly loved his church family. He was a jack of all trades spending time working as a publisher for The Orange Leader newspaper, an Operations Manager at Superior Tire in Orange, and was part owner of Alloy Wheel Repair. He had a very active mind and enjoyed inventing things, playing golf, and was a very skilled artist. Jan liked anything that had to do with cars. He enjoyed Indy 500 racing, was a Corvette enthusiast, and was even a member of the Tri-City Corvette Club. Jan loved his family, friends, and pets to his core. He was great “Pops” to his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Martha Bromley; sister, Alana Bromley; parents-in-law, Clay and Dorothy Hudgings; sisters-in-law, Jeanie, Margaret, and Leta; and his nephew, Gary Jenkins.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Susie Bromley; children, Chad Bromley and wife Tammy, of Mauriceville, Heather Quebodeaux and Craig Darby, of Little Cypress, and Kelley Wade, of Mauriceville; grandchildren, Emily Collins, Colby Quebodeaux, Bay Quebodeaux, Reese Bromley, and Mallory Houseman and husband Garrett; niece, Polly Barnes; brothers-in-law, Clay T. Hudgings and Don Jenkins and wife Janet; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Colby Quebodeaux, Reese Bromley, Bay Quebodeaux, Mallory Houseman, Garrett Houseman, Tom Wessel, Paul Klingler, Don Jenkins, Richard Jenkins, Craig Darby, Clay Barnes, Johnny Barnes, Polly Barnes, and Rick Mcmahan. Honorary pallbearers will be the Tri-City Corvette Club.

Jan’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Calvin Parker, Lori and Rollie of Heart to Heart Hospice, and to the Cancer Center of SETX for all of their wonderful care and support during these difficult times.
