Jack Darby, Sr.

Rene Warner Wade Darby, Sr. “Jack”, 73, of Orange, Texas, passed away on February 17, 2020, at his home in Orange.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange with Minister Timothy Martin officiating. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Bridge City, Texas, on November 2, 1946, he was the son of John Darby and Imogene Glaze Darby. Jack spent many years providing for his family as owner of Darby Construction. He was a true craftsman and a master builder, having worked on many historic restorations. Jack was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aries 2523 and Eagle Riders Orange. He enjoyed having a good cigar and riding his Honda Goldwing trike. Jack was a jokester, could always make everyone laugh, and was admired for his great sense of humor. He loved spending time with his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Imogene Darby; and his siblings, John Darby, David Darby, Grady Darby, Claude Darby, and Lattie Jo Heflin.

Rene is survived by his loving companion of 20 years, Sharon Bodin; sons, Rene Warner Wade Darby, Jr. and wife Sharon, of Navarre Beach, FL and Anthony Juan Darby and wife Rose, of Cummings, GA; grandchildren, Katy Darby, Jack Darby, Andrew Darby, Autumn Darby, and Lilly Darby; siblings, Geraldine Ford and husband John, and Zilda Bland; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Sharon’s family; her children, Sheri Love and Lee Bodin; grandchildren, Jena Krieske, Ronald Love, Marysa Roy; and her great-grandchildren, Evrain Krieske, Hannah Roy, Noah Roy, Sophia Roy, and Leeland Bodin. People he considered family; his adopted “Misfits”, Tim andTeresa Martin, James and Delissa Martin, Kenny (Terry) Tolman, and Rickie Flores.

Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Bellar, William “Chief” Sepulvado, Nelson Cullum, Christian Marler, Bill Stein, Tommy Greenwell, and Tim Martin. Honorary pallbearers are Kenny Tolman and James Martin.
