Homer Lee Ballard

Homer Lee Ballard, 83, of Orange, passed away on February 20, 2021, in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 27, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Pastor Jeff Trahan of Memorial Church of Christ in Nederland. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Orange.

Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Winnsboro, Texas, on June 6, 1937, he was the son of Horace Ballard and Dathel (Rettman) Ballard. Homer proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. He went on to work for Unocal as a dock operator and later retired after 31 years of hard work. Homer was a faithful member of Memorial Church of Christ in Nederland. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, being out in the boat with his family, traveling, and going on cruises. Homer loved getting on his Kubota ATV and drive it pretty much everywhere. He took pride in his vintage classic cars and occasionally took them out for a drive. He was a handy man that could fix just about everything around the house. Homer loved his family dearly and never missed a moment to spend time with them. He left an impact on many lives and will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Dathel Ballard; and brothers, Frank Ballard, James Ballard, and David Ballard.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Geraldine (Ortolon) Ballard; children, Norman Lee Ballard and wife Sonia of Orange, Bruce Allan Ballard and wife Natalie of Groves, and Tammy Lynn Carr and husband Charlie of Kountze; grandchildren, Crystal Sparkman and husband Brian, Brad Ballard and wife Emily, Cory Ballard and wife Brooke, Brandi Ballard, Orion Carr, and Stuart Carr; great grandchildren, Cade Vidrine, Nicholas Ballard, and Brody Allan Ballard; siblings, Kenneth Ballard, Marlin Ballard, Lou Carter and husband Billy, and Linda Delome and husband John; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Cory Ballard, Brad Ballard, Orion Carr, Stuart Carr, Brian Sparkman, and Josh Slusher. Honorary pallbearer will be Cade Vidrine.
