Gertie Mae Ewing

Gertie Mae Ewing, 80, of Orange, passed away on March 28, 2021, in Orange.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 1, 2021, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Orange. Officiating will be Father Sinclair Oubre and Deacon Tommy Ewing. Cremation will follow services.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 31, 2021 with a vigil beginning at 6:30 p.m., and a rosary following vigil, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Deacon Tommy Ewing.

Born in Buras, Louisiana, on October 2, 1940, she was the daughter of Robert Henry Ewing, Sr. and Inez Mary (Guillotte) Ewing. Gertie loved to travel, especially aboard cruise ships to destinations like Alaska and the Caribbean. She worked as a real estate agent with American Real Estate and was extremely dedicated to her job. Gertie was usually the first one there and the last one to leave. She was a wonderful sister and adored being an aunt. Gertie enjoyed fishing and playing Texas Hold’em and the slot machines at the casino. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Debbie Hughes, her caregivers, Mary, Brittney, Tiffany, B.B., Teranie, Southeast Texas Hospice, their nurses and Dr. Michael Amsden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Inez Ewing; brother, Robert Ewing, Jr.; and aunt, Daisy Guillotte.

She is survived by her sister, Bobbie Linscomb and husband Ray; nephew, Michael Linscomb and wife Alisa and their son Parker; niece, Susan Linscomb; and aunts, Theresa and Pearl Guillotte.

Serving as pallbearers will be Parker Linscomb, Michael Linscomb, George Barron, Phillip Caillavet, Mike Magnuson, and Glenn Hughes. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be David Morgan and Clyde Linscomb, Jr.
