Sandra Ferrel Ridley Ashby, 82, of Bridge City, Texas left this life to be with her Lord and Savior on February 18, 2021.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 23, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Bridge City. Officiating will be Pastor Mark Bunch. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Bridge City.
Born in Beaumont, TX on April 28, 1938 she married Jerry Ashby on July 4, 1957 and became Mom to Sherry, Sandy, and Alan. Ferrel worked in the insurance industry for many years. She loved her church family and was a dedicated member of St Paul UMC where she was known for her skills with flower arrangements and decorating for events. Ferrel was a 60+ year member of Beta Sigma Phi and enjoyed her circle of friends. She loved traveling and sightseeing in the US and abroad, collecting cardinals and playing all sorts of games like Farkle, Five Crowns and especially Bridge. She was well known for having a voice that carried while rooting on her son and grandkids playing sports, and for her sewing skills as she made twirling and dance costumes for Sherry and Sandy.
Ferrel was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Josephine Ridley; brother, Earl Ridley, Jr.; and daughter, Sandy Ashby.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry; sister, Jo Ann Setliff; daughter, Sherry Scales and husband Clay, son, Alan Ashby and wife Beth; grandsons, Brady Meyers, Ryan Meyers (Teagan), Jared Scales (wife Crystal), and Cole Ashby (wife Melissa); granddaughters, Sabrina Meyers, Elissa Scales, and Amanda Thompson (husband Garrett); great grandkids, Brentsen, Crystal Jo, Bradley, Lillian, Zariah, Tucker, and Tripp.
Serving as pallbearers will be Alan Ashby, Cole Ashby, Clay Scales, Jared Scales, Brady Meyers, and Ryan Meyers.
