Fane Eugene Derryberry, 95, of Silsbee, passed away on December 26, 2021, in Beaumont.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Claybar Kelley Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont. Officiating will be Reverend Leroy Smith and Reverend Henry Sims. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Claybar Kelley Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont.
Born in Whitesboro, Texas, on October 29, 1926, he was the son of Alvis Derryberry and Nettie Barnes. Fane served as a minister for various churches over 65 years, but most significantly Suburban Acres Baptist Church in Beaumont for a total of 50 years. He drove the bus for Beaumont Independent School District for 28 years and often volunteered at the VA in Beaumont. He was the lead director of Pine Springs Youth Incampment in Pineville for several years and played a vital role in the organizations daily affairs. Fane was a servant of God and poured his life into helping and enriching others. He often took time out of his busy schedule to visit with the sick and so many others. Fane left a lasting empact on so many in the Southeast Texas community and will be missed in the hearts of all who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvis Derryberry and Nettie Barnes; daughter, Jeanie Meeks; step-daughters, Pamela Moon and Sheila Moon; and two brothers.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Moon Derryberry; children, Donald Derryberry and wife Janie of Alice, Texas and Richard Derryberry and wife Paula of Denver, Colorado; step-children, Tammie Moon Andrews and husband Tim of Evadale and Joseph T. Moon and wife Dawn of San Augustine; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Melton Sims, Clint Mallett, J.T. Moon, Scott Gray, Joshua Hamner and Donny Derryberry. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Andrews and Jeremiah Hamner.
