Ellen Fleming

March 6, 1952 — June 21, 2020

Ellen Fleming, 68, of Orange, Texas, passed away on June 21, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loved ones.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, June 25, 2020, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Deacon Melvin Payne, of St. Mary Catholic Church in Orange.

Born in Orange, Texas, on March 6, 1952, Ellen was the daughter of Irving Broussard and Gertrude (Bergeron) Broussard. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Orange and spent her life devoted to her savior. Ellen was a natural caregiver, devoting her entire life to the care and nurturing of those around her. She proudly operated her daycare, taking in every one of her daycare kids like they were her own. Ellen was never afraid to take up for the underdog, and was steadfast in fighting for what was right, proving time and time again she was your biggest advocate. Above the many joys and loves in her life, her family was always number one to her. Ellen was always at her happiest whenever she was surrounded by family, especially when they would come over for the holidays. When you look back on the well lived life of Ellen you are quick to remember her always feeding everyone who came through her door, never sitting still, and her clever and witty personality. She was always the first to hit you with a smart come back but also the first to offer a helping hand or shoulder to cry on. Ellen’s legacy has left an everlasting impression on her family, whom will carry it in their hearts for generations to come.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Irving and Gertrude Broussard.

She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Peter Fleming; children, Marcy Haynes and husband Ricky, April Mays and husband Brad, Amy Brown and husband Chad, Elizabeth Ramsey and husband Mark, and Sarah St. John and husband Brandon; grandchildren, Kayla Hooper, Brookelynn Powell, TJ Marshall, Beau Mays, Mallory Mays, Carly Flannigan, Luke Flannigan, Brynn Ramsey, Hollis Ramsey, Hayes St. John, and Rhett St. John; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Owen McPayne, Wendell Broussard, Mark Broussard, and Norman Broussard; sisters, Susan Moody, and Marian Trammel; her fur baby, Linus; and numerous other loving family and friends she considered family.
