Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Chandler

Betty Ann Chandler, 84, of Orangefield, passed away on February 4, 2021 in Whitehouse.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 8, at St. Helen Catholic Church in Orangefield. Officiating will be Father Michael Strother. Burial will follow at Granger Cemetery Duncan Woods.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, with a rosary starting at 5:00 p.m., at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Beaumont, Texas, on January 8, 1937, she was the daughter of Elvin James Horn and Alberta Mary (Granger) Horn. Betty worked in the cafeteria for Orangefield ISD for many years. She was a devout Catholic her entire life and was very active in her church and the PTA. Betty had the best sense of humor and was also the most loving and kind person you could ever meet. To know Betty was to love her, and so the community of Orangefield named a day after her. December 13 was proclaimed “Betty Chandler Day”. Betty was known as the “Gumbo Queen” and at times, making many gallons for the community. She adored her family most of all and she never missed a moment with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty left an impact on so many lives and will be dearly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Gerald L. Chandler; parents, Elvin and Alberta “Dolly” Horn; brothers, Harvey Horn, Curtis Horn, “Chappy” Horn, and Richard Horn; son in law, Michael Lovett.

She is survived by her children, Mary Carlene Morgan and husband David, Ann Lyn’ett Lovett, Wayne Chandler, Sarah Holcomb and husband Jeff, Gerald Chandler, Gabrielle Chandler, and heartfelt “adopted” daughter, Mona Bradford; grandchildren, Heather Harris and husband Mike, Brandi Lovett, Travis Lovett and wife Robyn, Lucas Lovett, Nicole Rinehart and husband Tommy, Natalie Hasley and husband Jaron; great grandchildren, Dylan Howard and wife Hayley, Cody Howard, Olivia Flores, Ethan Rinehart, Caleb Remedies, Brooklynn Rinehart, Londynn Rinehart, Kinslee Rinehart, Conner Kendrick, Naomi Harris, Chandler Way, Jack Halsey, Jase Halsey, Noelle Halsey, and Josiah Halsey; sisters, Barbara “Beebo” Minton, and Mary Catherine Michael; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Travis Lovett, Lucas Lovett, Wayne Chandler, Cody Howard, Dylan Howard, and Caleb Remedies.
