Edward "Ed" John Keegan

Edward “Ed” John Keegan, 80, of Orange, passed away on June 27, 2021, in Houston.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Orange with Father Francis X. Conroy serving as the celebrant.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, at the church.

Born in Houston, Texas on March 5, 1941, he was the son of Peter Edward Keegan and Ruth Catherine (Lowerison) Keegan. Ed proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army as a private. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and was commended the level of expert on the M-14 rifle. Following his military service, he worked in the field of insurance before beginning his career at DuPont Sabine River Works. He retired from DuPont following many years of dedicated service.

Ed was a faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Orange. He loved spending time outdoors, golfing, hunting, fishing, and tending to his yard. Ed loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Kathryn “Kathy” Keegan; parents, Peter and Ruth Keegan; siblings, Mary Louise Keegan; Kathleen Keegan, Ruth Ellen Keegan Valdez and her husband Richard A.Valdez.

He is survived by his daughter, Suzie Tarpley and her husband Jack of Santa Fe; his son, Patrick Edward Keegan of Orange; granddaughter, Grace Tarpley of Santa Fe; and his sister, Frances Keegan of Missouri City.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Lewy Body Dementia Association; M.D. Anderson Cancer Center; St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.

The family would like to especially thank the caring staff of Addington Place of Clear Lake as well as Faith Community Hospice. Angel, Denise, Ulanda, Teresa, Keyla and Victoria made Daddy’s last months as enjoyable and comfortable as possible and we are forever grateful.
