E. J. “Buddy” Rasberry, 94, of Orange, passed away on February 16, 2019, in Orange.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at St. Henry Catholic Church in Bridge City. Officiating will be Father Steve Leger. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be from held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.
Born in Iota, Louisiana, on March 15, 1924, he was the son of Horace Rasberry and Effie (Richard) Rasberry. Buddy proudly served his country the Army Air Force. He later went on to work as a welder for DuPont Sabine River Works and retired after over 34 years. Buddy enjoyed gardening, fishing, and being outdoors. He also liked being with his animals in the barn and riding on his tractor. Buddy took great pride in building things, especially his houseboat he built after retiring. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Velma Katherine Rasberry; his daughter, Myra Caillouet; his parents, Horace and Effie Rasberry; and his brother, Milam J. Rasberry.
He is survived by his children, Bryan Rasberry and wife Lori of Bridge City, Ginger Whittington of Bridge City, and Keith Rasberry and wife Audrey of Bridge City; his son-in-law, Kerry Caillouet; his grandchildren, Corey Edgerly and wife Katie, Bryan Rasberry, Jr. and wife Laresa, Sheryl Murillo and husband Gaby, Mick Rasberry and wife Laci, Lindsey Hill and husband Jack, Christopher Rasberry and wife Erin, Corey Rasberry and wife Brittany, Leslie Romero and husband Austin, Carlie Duplechin and husband Kody, Cassie Bearden and husband Jim, and Amy Garza and husband Baldemar; and his great-grandchildren, Sebastian Rasberry, Bryan Rasberry III, Isaiah Murillo, Faith Rasberry, Wyatt Rasberry, Angel Murillo, Myra Murillo, Kloe Edgerly, Karlie Edgerly, Brayson Rasberry, Brooklyn Rasberry, Brody Rasberry, Silas Romero, Lucy Romero, Henry Romero, Luke Duplechin, J. S. Bearden, Hallie Bearden, Hutch Bearden, and Haven Garza.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bryan Rasberry, Mick Rasberry, Corey Edgerly, Chris Rasberry, Corey Rasberry, and Gaby Murillo.
