Dottie Ross Cooper

Dottie Cooper, 92, of West Orange, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2020.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Sunday, May 24, at Evergreen Cemetery. Officiating will be Mr. Larry Barfoot.

Born in Marthaville, Louisiana, on September 25, 1927, she was the daughter of Amos C. Ross and Ruby (Brown) Ross. Dottie worked for the Naval Station as a selected service secretary for 25 years until retirement. She was the oldest living Charter member of North Orange Baptist Church where she continued to be very devoted and active in her church. Dottie was a longtime fifth grade Sunday School teacher and a member of the Pastors Bible Studies Group. She enjoyed sewing, playing the piano and made the most beautiful smocking’s. Dottie was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother to her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Ruby Ross; beloved husband, Harold Cooper; sisters, Mary “Mag” Fleming, DeAlva Elliott, Verlaine Sears; and brother, Dewey Ross.

She is survived by her sons, Stanley Cooper and wife Claire of Mauriceville and Gary Cooper of Lumberton; grandchildren, Jennifer Cooper, Philip Cooper and wife Lindsey, Christie Cooper, and Rachael Smith; great grandchildren, Isabella Pilleggi, Gavin Cooper, Ava Montondon, and Baily Alfaro; brother, Orie Ross; and numerous beloved family members.
