Donald Wilson Garrison

February 5, 1934 — May 22, 2018

Donald W. “Don” Garrison was born February 5, 1934, in a house somewhere in Welch, Oklahoma. He lived in Lumberton, Texas until August 2017. He then moved to Victoria, Texas where he gently passed into the arms of His loving Savior on May 22, 2018. He was 84 years of age.
Don worked as a Project Supervisor for Trotti-Thompson, which later became APAC. Many of the roads and highways you drive on today in the Golden Triangle were laid and built under his supervision.
Don attended Woodland Baptist Church where he made many friends. He led many of their social functions, helped cook meals and served as a greeter. Whether it was at church or the local Senior Citizen Community Center, he would never pass up a chance to play, and win at his favorite game, dominos.
Don never met a stranger, wearing his cowboy hat and offering a friendly “hello”. He loved giving out hugs but his favorite thing to do was offer all the ladies “a kiss” as he handed out Candy Kisses. Don has made many friends over the years and loved staying in touch with them through phone calls. He could talk for hours on the phone whether it be with his son, daughter, sisters, brothers or friends.
Don is predeceased by his father, Jess Garrison; his mother, Hazel Parks; his wife, Mary Garrison; and, brothers, Virgil Garrison and Norman Garrison.
He is survived by his son, and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Mary Sue Garrison; his daughter, Donna Garrison; his sisters, Marilyn Garrison and Wanda Mullinax; his brothers, Eldon Garrison, Wesley Parks, Steve Parks, David Garrison, Mark Farabee; and one grandson, Marc Garrison.
Don would lovingly joke with those around him and will forever be remembered for the laughter and love he shared with so many.
A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, May 29, 2018 beginning at 10:00 a.m. to be held at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home. Pallbearers serving in honor of Don will be Terry Johnson, Terry Pool, Art Williams, Ray Fowler, Lynn Mason and Roger Simon.
There will be a private burial following the service for immediate family members.
