Christopher Michael "Mike" Welsh

Christopher “Mike” Michael Welsh, 46, of Mauriceville, passed away on April 18, 2019, in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 22, 2019, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Brother Paul Rose of First Pentecostal Church of Starks and Reverend Michael Orange of Deweyville Pentecostal Church.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, April 21, 2019, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Orange, Texas, on February 14, 1973, he was the son of Jerry Wallace Welsh and Margaret Priscilla (McPayne) Welsh. Mike was an avid drag racer, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at the lake. In his spare time he loved working on cars, riding Harley Davidson’s and indulging himself at crawfish boils. Mike cherished the time he got to spend with his family and friends, always holding them near to his heart. With a great sense of humor, anywhere he went, laughter was sure to follow. He will be remembered as a loving husband, a compassionate father, an endearing grandfather, and a loyal friend. Mike had a golden heart that was extended to all those who knew and loved him, and will forever be missed by all those whose lives he touched.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Welsh; brother, Scooter Welsh; and sister, Dana Walker.

He is survived by his loving wife and companion of 26 years, Jenise Welsh of Mauriceville; father, Jerry Wallace Welsh of Vinton, Louisiana; children, Devon Jarel McMahon and wife Jenny of Orange, Sabrina Ann Welsh of Mauriceville and Justin Wallace Welsh of Mauriceville; grandchild, Lucas Allen Welsh; siblings, Kenneth Howard of Vinton, Louisiana, Lydia Griffin of Beaumont, Betty Trahan of Vinton, Louisiana, Tim Welsh and wife Lana of Starks, Louisiana, Billy Mercer and wife Tara of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and honorary brother and best friend, Eric Harbert and wife Peggy of Mauriceville; along with numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
