Cheryl Valinda Williams Barrera

June 18, 1959 — September 24, 2021

Cheryl Valinda Williams Barrera, 62, was born June 18, 1959 in Valdosta, Georgia and died September 24, 2021 in Beaumont, Texas.

Cheryl loved the word “love” and all it represented. She enjoyed decorating a home and was excellent at it. She had a real eye for color, style and beauty and had her own distinctive and stylish look. She worked as a Life Skills Paraprofessional for many years in Katy, Austin, Bridge City and Orange, Texas, last employed by the Orangefield Independent School District. She loved the children she worked with through the years.

Very outgoing, friendly and positive minded, she enjoyed meeting up with a group of friends to eat, talk, and have a good margarita or two. She was blessed to have many wonderful friends! Cheryl was strong, confident and happy with her life. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was the “cool” grandma to Carsen and Addie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert L and Maxine Williams of Orange and her husband, Rene Barrera of Austin, Texas.

She is survived by her son, Christopher Drucker and grandchildren, Carsen Drucker and Addison Drucker, her sister Caron Van Slyke and husband Hank. Cousins Tracey Hill Harrison, Michael Hill, Cynthia Ragon Robertson, Jimmy Green. Aunts, Judi Green and Wanda Green, as well as other extended family members. Her beautiful cat, Bella was her companion in all the life changes that came to Cheryl for the past 15 years. She adored Bella.

Her wishes were to be cremated and no services. Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Instead, please honor and remember her in any way you feel led.

“So now faith, hope and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13

We will miss you every moment, Cheryl.
