Born in Odum, Georgia, on November 7, 1935, he was the son of Charles Cleveland Joyner and Eva (Raulerson) Joyner. Charles retired after working 31 loyal years at what used to be known as Owens-Illinois and now International Paper. He met and married the love of his life, Margaret, in St. Marys, Georgia and went on to move them to Maine and later to Texas. He was a member of Little Cypress Baptist Church before later moving to Mauriceville and then on to Jasper and becoming a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church before returning home to Mauriceville being a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Mauriceville. Charles was very involved in his community serving on the Little Cypress-Mauriceville School Board for 6 years, a former member of the Little Cypress Lions Club, an official for Pee Wee Football, and giving a loving foster home to two children over the years. He was his grandchildren’s number one fan and enjoyed being involved in and watching them in all of their activities. Charles loved to spend time outdoors, whether he was fishing at the lake, gardening, ranching, or farming on his land. He loved his family dearly and his memory will live on with those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Margaret Joyner; children, David Joyner, of St. Marys, Georgia and Emily Collier and husband Jeff, of Mauriceville, Texas; and his grandchildren, Abigail Joyner, Faith Joyner, Morgan Collier, Jaxon Collier, and Tex Collier; foster daughter, Denise McBride; along with numerous other loving family and friends.
