Willard Ray Washington, 76, of Orange, passed away on June 5, 2017.

A celebration of life for Willard Washington, also known as “Unc” or “George”, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Burial will follow at Magnolia Springs Cemetery in Kirbyville.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Orange, Texas, on September 10, 1940, he was the son of Ray Laprell Washington and Velma Lynell (Gordan) Washington. Willard was a chemical operator for Honeywell for 37 years. He also honorably served in the U.S. Army for four years and in the U.S. Airforce for four years. During his time in the service he was stationed in Istanbul, Turkey and Westfield, Massachusetts. He loved woodworking and was an excellent mechanic who could fix anything. After retiring he took up rebuilding computers. He also enjoyed bass fishing and camping. He especially enjoyed spending quality time with his children and grandchildren. His family has many fond memories of their family trips to Massachusetts. Willard will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him, especially his crew at Spanky’s.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his children, Renee Cole and her husband Richard, and Patrick Washington and his wife Tahia; his grandchildren, Tyler Washington, Kail Washington, Bradley Washington, Emilee Prestwood and her fiancé Cody Brasuell, Shawn Prestwood, Tessia Cole, Wesley Cole and his wife Cheyenne; his great-grandchildren, Raygan Brooks, Kaydan Brooks, and Cohen Brasuell; he also had several cousins including, Lois Johnson; and his best friend, Pete Dickey.

Serving as pallbearers will be Thad Singleton, Shawn Prestwood, Bradley Washington, Tyler Washington, Cody Brasuell, and Kail Washington. Honorary pallbearer will be Pete Dickey.
A special thanks to all the nurses and staff that helped care for Mr. Washington in his stay at Baptist Hospital.
