Virginia Votaw Johnston

February 4, 1924 — March 3, 2015

Virginia Votaw Johnston, wife of Warren (Jack) Johnston, died Tuesday, March 3rd at home. Born in Beaumont, Texas on February 4th, 1924, she attended Beaumont High School and was outstanding in her musical career.

Guided by Dr. “Lena” Milam she was married and began her teaching. Virginia played in the first symphony under the direction of Jay Dietzer in the Beaumont Musical Ensemble and the Beaumont Piano Teachers’ Association. She also taught privately for many years and loved working with the many young people under her care.

She is survived by three daughters, Karen Johnston, Kim Connelly and Judy Johnston. There are also eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

There will be a gathering of friends and family at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home on Friday, March 6, from 6-9:00 p.m. with a private graveside service in Leggett, Texas on Saturday.
