Ruth Walton Cox, 92, of Silsbee was born October 20, 1924 in Melvin, Texas to George Wesley and Effie Lillian (Arkin) Walton and passed away July 1, 2017 in Beaumont.
Ruth grew up in Beaumont where she attended Voth Elementary School, Dick Dowling Junior High, Beaumont High and Lamar State College. She was retired as a cashier from Burkett Food Store and was a member of the Baptist church.
She is survived by two grandsons, Robert “Bob” Bates of Fairfax, Missouri, David Lee Bates of Corpus Christi; four great-grandchildren, William Robert Bates, Audrae M. Bates, Brittany Borders, Ryan Matthew Bates; and three great-great-grandchildren, Madison Borders, Adilyn Capri Bates and Maveric Bates.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends at the funeral home will begin at 9:00 a.m., July 6 prior to the graveside service.
