Leta Irene Feher

April 8, 1937 — July 3, 2018

Leta Irene Feher was born in Scottsville, Kentucky, on Aril 8, 1937, and moved to Southeast Texas in 1960. She married the love of her life, Dane Feher, on May 4, 1974, and they remained married until Dane’s death in 2016. A hairstylist by trade, Leta began working in the field in 1964. After years of hard work, she eventually became a small business owner and operator of her own salon until 2005 when she retired. She was a member of Lamplighter Baptist Church.

Leta was dedicated to her family above all else. Despite a limited formal education, she worked tirelessly to ensure a better life for her children. She sought to educate herself and provided for her loved ones as a single working mother until she married Dane. She and Dane complimented each other and shared the same values and immense love of family. Even before they married, their separate families melded into one blended family full of laughter and love. That abundant love spilled over to all Leta met, and she welcomed everyone into her home with a smile and offer of something to eat. Leta was loved greatly in return, and while she is no longer with us, her legacy of caring generosity will live on for generations in those of us lucky enough to call her ours.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dane Feher; her parents William Jay Brown and Bertha Beulha Carter; and siblings Owen Brown, William H. Brown, Ruth Fowler, Mildred Britt, Bobby G. Brown, Maxi Brown, and Louella Briley.

She is survived by her children Gary and Karen Stinson; Debbie and Robert Green, Cheryl and Steve Shuff, and Dana Woods; siblings Thelma Scruggs, sister-in-laws Becky Brown, and Deidra Coody and niece Andi Coody. She is also survived by grandchildren Erica and Roland Ratcliff; Jesse and Kim Stinson; Jacob Stinson; Stephen and Tessa, Robert and Kyndle Shuff; Rachel and Haley Martin; Ashley Shepherd and Crystal St. Cameron; and seven great grandchildren, Ethan and Eli Ratcliff, Caroline Shuff, Baby Shuff, Liam and Emma Stinson and Hunter Dane.
