LaJuan Fuller

LaJuan Fuller went home to be with her Lord and savior and family on July 16, 2017. Family members proceeding her in death, and so happy to see her again, are : Phynice Fuller- Mother, Ollie Fuller - Father, Dwight Fuller- brother, Tommy Fuller- brother, Stephen Smith- son, and JoAnn Fuller Kinder- sister.

She is survived by the love of her life, Thomas Spears, her two sons, Greg Smith and Jeff Smith, her daughter Cynthia Nagle, and her “adopted” brother and sister, Doug and Darlene Wissing.

LaJuan is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Stephany Ball, Tiffany Duque, Theresa O’Daniel, Kimburley Beard Jones, Leejay Smith, Autumn Smith, Michael Smith, Krystal Smith, Charlotte Smith, Amanda Gus, and Denver Cooper. Her legacy will continue to grow as she also has fourteen great-grandchildren.

LaJuan was born in Alto, TX on March 21, 1941. She graduated from West Orange-Stark High School in Orange, TX. She married, had four children, and worked many jobs over the years. She was a waitress, hotel housekeeper, vacation cabin cleaner, laundromat cleaner, bakery shop worker, bakery shop owner, and property manager with Tony Dal Sasso for years. But her greatest accomplishment was fulfilling her calling of managing Optimist Village Apartments for 22 years. She excelled in making beautiful memories for others and made it a point to show her love by always finding a way to give through her generous actions. She worked with the “Say No to Drugs” program, became the first lady president of Orange Noon Optimist Club, and always supported local charities and community events.

We would love to talk about what a wonderful woman she was. We could go on for pages about how she was selfless, loving, kind, generous, strong, loved life, became a mentor for so many, was there for everyone any time she was needed, and so much more. But instead, we thought we would share some of her most important memories and thoughts; which she herself wrote long before this obituary was written.

LaJuan wanted to leave the following message: “I have loved and been loved in my lifetime more than my fair share.” “I’ve had parents who loved me,my children’s father’s love, and my grandchildren’s love.” “I've also had the pleasure of having great friends and co-workers.” “Being loved, and loving, has been life’s greatest pleasure for me!”

She wanted to share some of the following: “I trusted the Lord to help me rear four children. It was hard as a single parent, but the Lord never let me down. I asked and received.” “Always trust the Lord; not man, not yourself!” “The Lord is my truest, lasting friend.”

Some off her fondest memories are: going to bible school, being baptized in Brother Renfro’s pond in Center, TX and receiving the Holy Ghost, coming home from school and smelling her mother’s cooking and fresh baked cookies, vacations with her sister, and coming home to Orange, TX with her four children after marrying and living in Ft. Worth, TX.

She has left a lasting legacy for her children, grandchildren, and community. Her family is proud of the life she lived. As she once stated “The measure of a woman’s success in life is the happiness of her own family.”

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Burial will follow at Sims Rocky Hill Cemetery in Huntington, TX.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
