George Leslie Anderson

July 27, 1949 — March 31, 2018

George Leslie Anderson
George Leslie Anderson, 68, of Orangefield, Texas, peacefully passed from this world on March 31, 2018 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 12:30.

Born in Beaumont, Texas, on July 27th 1949, he was son of Henry Powell Anderson and Clara Olive-Virginia (Sorter) Anderson. He graduated from Orangefield High School in 1967, where he played center on the football team and was an active member of the Texas Association of Future Farmers of America. George served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1967-1971

He was a very talented carpenter who could build most anything he decided he wanted to build. George, served as a member of the Carpenter’s Local Union, 753.

After working in the mainstream area of carpentry for many years, he began to seek a new challenge, which led him to become a yacht carpenter journeyman. He gained skills and knowledge, working on both the inside and outside of various vessels.

George, began his own company, Twin Bridges Enterprises, in Port Arthur, Texas, and served the needs of the boating community near and far.

George, also mastered many other areas of interest such as leather working, blacksmithing, horse training, and bass guitar playing. One of his many accomplishments was obtaining his Captain’s license and working as a tug boat Captain for several years.

His craftsmanship and interest in weaponry stirred up a passion in black powder gunsmithing. He enjoyed the nostalgia and primitive methods of designing, building, and shooting a handmade black powder gun, as well as casting the bullets.

George was well known by all who ever sat at his table for his cooking and bar-b-quing. Food was a science to him, and whenever he found an opportunity to show off his skills, he did.

Family and friends of George, take solace in knowing that although he left on Passover Saturday, he celebrated Resurrection Sunday with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

George is preceded in death by both parents, Powell and Clara Anderson, one brother Obert Anderson, and one stepson, Gary “Skipper” Morse.

He is survived by his loving wife Andria Anderson, son, George Seth Anderson and wife Carol of Fayetteville, NC, Stepdaughter, Keli Zimmerman and husband Chris of Mauriceville, TX; Grandchildren Matt Anderson of Conroe, TX, Ethan, Holland, and Seth Aaron Anderson of Fayetteville, NC, Jackee’ Graham and fiancée Heath, and Miranda Graham and fiancée Austin; five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
