Daniel T. "Dan" Ryder Jr.

October 25, 1945 — September 10, 2014

Daniel T. “Dan” Ryder, Jr., 68, of Orange, passed away on September 10, 2014, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, September 14, 2014, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Randy Branch. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.

Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00, Sunday September 14th at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Houston, Texas, on October 25, 1945, he was the son of Daniel T. Ryder and Marviana (Garrison) Ryder. Dan grew up in Port Neches during the time of doo-wop music and hot rod cars. He liked fast cars and drove a Mustang for many years. He graduated from Port Neches High School in 1963, and then went on to attend Lamar University. Dan served in the U. S. Navy from 1966-1971. Dan and Sue lived for 19 fun years together, filled with beach music and Jimmy Buffett concerts. He enjoyed Florida sunsets from Pensacola to Key West. Dan’s favorite beach locations were Gulf Shores, AL and Fort Morgan, AL. He enjoyed photography, woodworking, and trains of all kinds. From his years spent working with computers at DuPont, he continued his interest in everything computer related, after his retirement as a CAD system manager.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel T. Ryder and Marviana “Sis” McCarty.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Ryder; daughters, Kate Kalstein and husband, Jon of Denver, Colorado, and Megan Gerald and husband, Brandon of Texas City, Texas; grandchildren, Parker and Quinn Kalstein of Denver, Colorado, and Payton Gerald of Texas City, Texas; brother, Brian Ryder and wife, Kerry of Leander, Texas; niece, Bekah Ryder of College Station, Texas; mother-in-law, Margaret Louviere of Orange, Texas; brother-in-law, Mike Louviere of Orange, Texas; and numerous other family and many, many Parrot Head friends throughout the world.

Serving as pallbearers will be Xavier Guzman, Daniel Guzman, Bill Benoit, Dusty Benoit and his former PN-G classmates, Herky McCutcheon and Roy Ramke, Jr.
