Audrey Mary Reves

Audrey Mary Reves, 88, resident of Orange, Texas since 1948 and native of Houma, Louisiana, born on April 24, 1929, died January 1, 2018, at 8:22 a.m.

Mrs. Reves is survived by her son, James D. Reves and wife Christy, of Orange; daughter, Billie Kay Melanson and husband Joe; grandchildren, Clint Reves and wife Holly, Tyler Reves, Kelly Hennigan, and Sally Pope; and her great-grandchildren, Adam Pope, Jr., Max Reves, Mason Reves, and Chip Reves;

She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred J. Buquet and Lucretia Lirette Buquet; husband, Billy C. Reves; son, Richard W. Reves; granddaughter, Christine Reves; and her siblings, Fred J. Buquet, Jr., Elsie Anderson, J.B. Buquet, Betty Bergeron, and Ethel Fenwick.

Mrs. Reves retired in 1984 from the West Orange Cove Independent School District where she taught Vocational Drafting for a number of years. She graduated from Terrebonne High School in 1945 and received her Teaching Certification Courses at Texas A&M and Lamar University in 1971. She was a Certified Texas Teacher, a Certified Senior Engineering Technician, An Independent Certified Architectural Designer\Draftsman, and in her earlier years she was a Manager/Operator for Western Union, a Nurse’s Aide, and a Sales Clerk.

Audrey is a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Past church activities include serving as a lector, a member of the auditing committee, and Assistant Principal of the CCD program in 1975.

She was elected by the Orange Business and Professional Women Organization in 1972 as a recipient of the Woman of the Year Award for her contribution to the community. Some of her past affiliations with community organizations include serving as Secretary for the SRW DuPont Retirees Organization; Member of the Texas Retired Teachers Local and State Organization; Treasurer and President Elect for the West Orange Cove Classroom Teachers Association; President Bancroft PTA; Secretary, Orange County Junior Football League; Charter Member and Secretary of the Twin County Little League Association; Member of the Porcelain Art Association and the Rainbow Art Group; Advisor for the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America; and a retired member of the National Institute for the Certification of Engineering Technicians.

Audrey’s life was honored by a private family memorial service under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
