Alva A. "Al" Richardson, Jr.

June 9, 1930 — January 9, 2018

Alva ‘Al’ A. Richardson, Jr., a longtime resident of Beaumont, Texas was born in 1930 in Sour Lake, Texas to Alva and Nancy Richardson and left this life for a better one on January 9, 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Eva Mae Winegeart.
He was a graduate of Lamar University and served in the U.S. Army.
Al worked for Neches Butane Products Company for many years which was later acquired by Texaco and became Texaco Chemical where he retired in 1992. He enjoyed spending time traveling by RV with his wife and family and was fortunate to have his health long enough to see some of the amazing sites in the U.S. He also enjoyed volunteering at Baptist Hospital prior to his first major stroke.
He was a long time member of Cathedral in the Pines Christian Center and a founding member of Christian Fellowship Worship Center in Beaumont, Texas.
Survivors include his sweetheart of 68 years Janet ‘Jan’, son Alva ‘Al’ A. Richardson, III and wife Annice of Crystal Beach, Texas, 3 grandchildren Alva ‘Chip’ A. Richardson, IV of Fort Worth, Brandon Richardson and wife Courtney of Ballinger, Texas, David Richardson and wife Bailey of Harrison, Arkansas as well as 4 great grandchildren, Jaden, Bentley, Grant and Timber and many nieces and nephews.
We would like to give our special thanks to all of the staff of Earth Angels (especially Theresa Fitzwater) who provided assistance for the last 2 years of his life including braving high waters of Hurricane Harvey; All of the staff at Compassion Hospice (especially Sydney Cornwell); as well as his “Daughter in-Love”, Annice Richardson who has been our rock throughout this Journey.
A Celebration of his life and faith will be held on Friday, Jan. 12, at 2:30 p.m. in the Christian Fellowship Worship Center, 3950 Pointe Pkwy, Beaumont, TX 77706. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm prior to the service. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Christian Fellowship Worship Center at the address above.
Pallbearers are, David Winegeart, Doug McCormick, Eddie Manuel, Jeff McManus, Jim Gautreaux and Jim McCormick.
Honorary Pallbearers are Bill Griffin, Bob Morgan, Charlie McCleskey, Clyde Spears, Don McLemore, Jerry Waldrop, Larry Courtney, Larry Custer, Paul Seay and Rex Reavis.
